Picking the right size is the difference between a decoration that looks planned and one that crowds the house. Use this guide before you order.
Our three bands

How to measure
- Stand at the spot and note the lowest thing above it: eaves, branches, a porch roof or wires. The piece should stay well below it.
- Pace out the footprint. Inflatables need room for tethers on every side, often a few feet beyond the base.
- Walk to the street and look back. A piece that reads well from the sidewalk is usually at least a third the height of the wall behind it.
- Find the nearest outdoor outlet and measure the cord route.
Length versus height
Sleighs, trains, nativity scenes and reclining figures are often listed by length rather than height. Product pages say “long” when the listing does.
